BaySail and Star Line Mackinac Island Hydro-Jet Ferry Announce Cruising Partnership

[Bay City – May 1, 2021] Bay City’s own Appledore IV, owned and operated by 501c3 non-profit Bay Sail, will soon be sailing the Straits of Mackinac in partnership with Star Line, Mackinac Island’s Hydro-Jet Ferry company.
BaySail and Star Line have entered a partnership to bring Appledore IV to Mackinac Island and St. Ignace for extended stays in June, July, and August 2021. Appledore IV will offer 1.5 hours sails from Star Line’s docks in both St. Ignace and Mackinac Island. Star Line is passionate about their effort to be environmentally conscious and is excited to partner with BaySail to bring environmental education and fun together on the water. Passengers will enjoy interesting historical and fun ecological facts while relaxing under sail.

Sails aboard Appledore IV will be offered through Star Line from June 11th through July 5th, and again from August 19th through August 29th. All sails last 1.5 hours and passengers will be able to choose from daytime Eco History sails, evening sails, and sunset sails. Passengers are invited to bring their own food and drinks onboard. Tickets are available for purchase on Star Line’s website, mackinacferry.com.

Appledore IV is an 85’ long traditionally rigged tall ship. Appledore IV is owned and operated by BaySail, a Bay City based 501c3 non-profit. BaySail has operated since 1998 with the mission to foster environmental stewardship in the Saginaw Bay watershed and the Great Lakes ecosystem through shipboard and land based learning experiences.

Star Line Mackinac Island Hydro-Jet® Ferry and its acquired lines of ferries began serving Mackinac Island in 1878 and has since been ferrying families and islanders from Mackinaw City and St. Ignace to Mackinac Island. The company is best known for their high-speed hydro-jet rooster tail boats, family-friendly atmosphere, most frequent number of trips to and from Mackinac Island and underneath the Mackinac Bridge. In addition to five classic ferries, Star Line’s ferry boats include the Mackinac Express catamaran, Marquette II, Radisson, Cadillac, Joliet, LaSalle, and Anna May and their newest addition the pirate ship Good Fortune.

Reservations for the cruises can be made on Star Lines website www.MackinacFerry.com .  For more information regarding the BaySail and Star Line partnership, please contact Katelyn Day at katelyn@baysailbaycity.org or Andrea Green at officeoperations@mackinacferry.com.
