Star Line Mackinac Island Ferry Company is the exclusive provider of year-round passenger service in the Straits of Mackinac, offering daily trips (except Christmas Day) to the island throughout winter from Star Line’s St. Ignace Dock #2 (99 N. State Street).
There are many reasons people come to Mackinac Island in the winter. In addition to the island’s many winter events, there’s a lot to do. The state park makes up more than 80 percent of Mackinac Island, and it’s free for you to explore.
Many people visit the island to cross-country ski, and thanks to the volunteer-run Mackinac Island Ski Club and the support of Mackinac Island State Park, the island features several miles of groomed trails for classic cross-country skiing and skate skiing.
You can also hike the island on foot or in snowshoes. (Just don’t snowshoe on the groomed ski tracks!) And you can rent fat-tire bikes (which are a blast to pedal around snow-covered streets and the state park’s trails!)

Please Note: Winter ferry tickets may be purchased at St. Ignace Dock #2. During winter service, a $5 one-way surcharge will apply to Star Line Mackinac Island Ferry Company Summer Commuter Tickets and Star Line Mackinac Island Ferry Company Season Pass Holders. A $10 surcharge applies to standard round-trip tickets ($5 each way).
